Today, in lieu of clinical at the hospital, our Nursing 4 class (and the Nsg 5's) went to a workshop on mind mapping. It is 8 mothods to organize any and all information--supposedly.
I really think the lady meant well. I think that she had some valuable information to give. That said, she spoke for 6 hours on it!!! I could have condensed it--without leaving any important things out in about 1-2 hours. Someone along the chain of command thought it would be good for us during our last or next to last semester of college to be exposed to a new way of learning! We all sat in that workshop today thinking that the speaker was on crack. By this point, we've all refined (or at least should have refined) our way of learning. I know what works for me as well as what doesn't. But she droned on anyway.
I'm afraid that if I tried to use this stuff consistently like they want us to, I'd fail.
I started feeling sorry for the lady though. By the end of the day, no one was listening to her anymore. The Nursing 5 class was all studying. A lot of the nursing 4's were working on other stuff (I was working on a daily plan). And when we weren't working on school stuff, we were talking to each other.
Today was a waste of a clinical day--period.
Bottom line: If it ain't broke--Don't fix it!

Are you telling me you were rude?
You forgot to add the addition about me!
