T minus 10 days

New little Trevor gets to come home in 10 days. I'm dreaming about black Labs at night now.
Dave and I have been discussing where we might can put up a fence though. That way, we can confine the puppy in a smaller space. Our house makes an L in the back and we're considering fencing in the 2 sides to connect them. Then there is a small box of outside where we can put Trevor instead of having him on the runner chain. I'm not having an indoor dog though.
I'm super excited about getting him. I asked Daddy the other day when he would bring him to me. His reply--"I'm not interested in raising this dog." I took that to mean that when he got Trevor, I'd have Trevor. Hooray!

What a sweet face!

Another picture of little Trevor. He's pretty big to be only 4 weeks old.
These are all Trevors brothers and sisters. You can see the yellow Labs in the back and the face of a chocolate sticking out the doorway on the left.
Daddy said they slept most of the time that he was there (after all they are only 4 weeks).
When I spoke to the lady on the phone the other day, she said that they will take the dogs for swimming lessons next week, i.e., they'll take the puppies to their pond and put them in to swim. I'm glad they're introducing them to water early. I'll have to keep that going when he gets home. One of our church members has a pond that his dog, Katie, wades in when it gets really hot. Maybe Katie can go swimming with Trevor.

What a great Daddy!

Daddy called to check on me yesterday to see if I was recovering from my loss of Trevor. I told him that I was feeling better. He mentioned getting another dog and I said that I thought it would be good to just move forward. No use mourning over a dog that I cannot bring back. I also thought it would help ease the mind of the guy who ran over him. He's such a tender hearted guy anyway, this was not easy for him to deal with.

But I mentioned to Daddy that I want another black lab. Trevor had the best temperment (sp?) and was SO smart! But I got Trevor for a rock bottom price, and I didn't think I could find that good a deal again. I just don't have the money to buy a new dog. Daddy, who is such a great dad for daughters, said, "Don't worry about, I'll find you a dog." He then googled the nearby newspapers and checked out their classifieds. He found several people offering Labs and got to calling around. He pretty quickly found a lady who lives in the country outside of Huntsville who has a whole litter. The mama was a Black Lab and the daddy a Yellow Lab, so there are yellows, chocolates and blacks in the litter. They are 4 weeks old, so can't leave the mama yet. Daddy drove out there with his camera yesterday to see them and take pictures to show me. He called me and told me about them while he was still there and then let me talk to the owner, who is just the sweetest lady. Believe it or not, the mama dog got run over in her driveway by a member of their church youth group--but a large vet bill later, she's okay. So she totally understood about Trevor.

Anyway, Daddy and I talked about it and made a decision, he bought me a new dog yesterday and will bring it down to me when it's 6 weeks old (June 10). I talked him through uploading pictures and sending them to me, so here he is the new Trevor. For those of you who think its weird, Dave and I decided that Trevor is our dog name from now on. You name your dogs, we'll name ours. So...meet the new Trevor.
Trevor is on the left in this picture. The other two dogs are his brother and sister that are black labs.

Lots of blog changes....

I'm sure I'm driving some of you crazy with my blog format changes. I'm trying to personalize this page so that it looks different from every other blog out there. I don't know much about this though, so please bear with me while I'm learning. I'll settle somewhere--eventually.

Goodbye Trevor

Tonight, Trevor died.

I didn't have him chained up because we were at home and staying home. Long story, the boys from church came over to get out of the rain and when they were leaving, I didn't think about it, but he followed them into the road and got under the wheel of one of their big trucks. He died instantly. They buried him in the backyard for me.

I don't want to talk about it.

My side job

To make a little extra money on the side, I've been making "Lad Tags". They are 12x12 "blankets" with lots of ribbons off of them. Thomas has a couple and he loves them. My good friend, Darci, has helped further the venture. Her in-laws own the childrens shop in town and they are selling them on consignment for me.

New Gift Idea

I went to Canton to the flea market/craft show last week with a friend from church. I was on the lookout for new craft ideas and found this one. I'm doing these for our high school seniors as graduation gifts.

In the spirit of full disclosure!

So that you all know EVERYTHING I've been up to lately--let me show you. I found this fabric in the remnant bin at Hobby Lobby and decided to recover my bar stools. They look WAY better than they did before! Dave took the old covers off for me, so all I had to do was the recovering part! That made it a fairly easy project!
