My new craft endeavor!

I have flowers for the altar table on Sunday. I am tired of buying fresh flowers. Any of you who know my opinion of fresh cut flowers know that I'm way more in favor of bushes with the roots still attached. I don't particularly care for flowers that die. So long story short--I went to Hobby Lobby and bought silk flowers and made my own arrangement. Now I don't have to buy flowers anymore--that's really nice.

So here it is, my first ever flower arrangement. It's not the prettiest one I've ever seen, but I'm not embarrassed to put it on the altar table either.

Another scary day...

So this week has been very slow, very eventful and very draining--and it's only Thursday!

Monday was our first day of class and we did venipuncture. I was really scared. I love giving shots, but this is different. I had warned Leslie that I'm not a good partner for sticking. My veins aren't very easy to hit. So Leslie paired up with Miranda (who has great veins) and I paired up with a girl that was in my clinical group last semester. We practiced on this square of gummy stuff to get the feel of it and then finally the time came!!! Hooray! I got it on the first try. It was really awesome to see the flashback of blood in the tubing.

Tuesday was my day off and I seriously slept in. Now I'm having trouble keeping my days and nights straight.

We have started our respiratory unit. I found the instructor that I don't like. Her lecture was verbatim out the book. If she was going to do that, why did I have to read?
I think there's a pretty big difference between NSG 1 and NSG 2. EVERYTHING was important in NSG 1, everything is so laid back in NSG 2 though. Going to take a little getting used to.

So tonight I start my night class--A&P II. It is one night at week and lasts from 5-10. It stinks that it lasts so long, but at least I only have to go one night a week.

Nothing much else to report.

Stay tuned...

Back in the saddle again...

Everything is starting to gear up again. We had Nursing 2 orientation on Friday, which went WAY longer than necessary. There are 35 of us in the class (3-4 repeats from an old nursing 2 class, and the rest came out of my nursing 1 class). We have 4 instructors instead of 5. I don't know enough about them yet to say how they'll be. I'll keep you posted. I miss my nursing 1 instructors though. It was strange changing to a different classroom (each semester has their own classroom) and listening to different teachers.
Class starts with a bang on Monday. We're starting IV's on DAY 1!!! If you remember the parking situation from last semester you understand me when I say that Leslie, we're getting there early on Monday. Not to mention that I want a good seat. I will NOT sit in the back of the classroom.
I have a lot of work to do to prepare for Monday, so this is a short post. I'll let you know how class goes.

Stay tuned blog readers....
